So far, Croatian migrant families have been predominantly studied within the scope of theoretical questions oriented toward ethnicity and their role as guardians ethnic/national identity. Going beyond ethnic lens those studies, article focuses on an exploration family structures social functioning wider kinship networks in migration context well understanding how migrants conceive By highlighting complex entanglements traditional patterns (patrilocality, seniority, gender roles), transnational “a little tradition identity” held by migrants, this seeks to establish autonomous research into processes among make a rapprochement between classical anthropological studies.
